Ormskirk & Southport Hospital NHS Trust required the design, installation and maintenance of a full fire and security system. They put the contract out to tender and Focus won amid stiff competition.

A risk consultant visited the site to assess the Trust's requirements. Peace of mind is paramount in the health service, as is budget, and Focus were the obvious choice for market leading, cost effective solutions.

• Over 20km of LSF low smoke fume coaxial cable with a 2Mb link between Southport & Ormskirk hospitals was used, providing 24 hour local & remote monitoring of the security systems.

• To monitor staff, patients and visitors as they move through controlled areas of the new maternity unit, Focus installed 54 cameras linked to 9 x Panasonic 160gb digital recorders. Movements were viewed on 21" Panasonic high resolution monitors.

• Additionally, Focus integrated the existing personal attack system with CCTV and door access linked to the security hut and nurse stations

Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust takes care of many people, many of whom are ill and vulnerable. The systems that Focus installed allow for greater monitoring of movement around the hospital.

Continuous digital images are recorded for up to 31 days on the DS2 internal 320GB hard disks and archived onto a CD writer for evidential purposes. They can also be saved to PC and printed out on site.

All hard disk recording has a digital signature applied and is accessible at the touch of a button via powerful GoTo and event preview facilities.
