Focus Fire & Security have recently completed a prestigious two phase installation of fire and security systems at the new Regatta Place building on the Brunswick business park in Liverpool City Centre.

Initially brought in at tender stage by Mitie Engineering, Focus Fire & Security designed systems with the specific brief to ensure that the building was secure whilst also having sufficient capacity to expand the system once the building was occupied and the internal office layout decided.

By working in collaboration in the early stages of a project, Focus Fire & Security can ensure that security is designed around the needs of the end user. This means that, once the programme is in place, we are ideally positioned to manage the successful integration of security into the construction process. By focusing on every detail we ensure that end users’ expectations are delivered by guaranteeing everything they need for a safe & secure environment.

The client, PCT Primary Care Trust, part of the National Health Service (NHS), occupied and then restructured the internal layout of the building Focus Fire & Security redesigned and amended the systems to ensure all the additional offices were secure and the fire alarm still complied with the Specification requirement for a L3 (life level 3) system. This included carrying out a full audibility test to ensure the required decibel level was maintained throughout the building.

Another interesting fact is that since the building is being used for government purposes there was a requirement for a terrorist attack alarm. This was achieved by fitting an output to the fire alarms on a key override switch to give a different and distinct tone.
